Kathryn Z. Klaber: Region’s identity crisis hindering investment

We may be having an identity crisis in Pittsburgh. At a recent conference for oil, gas and petrochemical industry professionals here, our region was referred to in at least three different ways: “Appalachia,” the “Marcellus/Utica basin,” and the “Northeast.” These monikers create different impressions of geography and attributes for each of us.
