Study: Nation’s gas production growth tied to Marcellus

The United States will account for 40 percent of the world’s new natural gas production by 2022, according to a new International Energy Agency study released today, and the Marcellus Shale is playing a big role in that growth.

America’s gas production growth was specifically tied to the Marcellus region, according to the study. The IEA predicted that more gas will be pumped from fewer wells, requiring fewer rigs, and leading to a 45 percent increase in production between 2016 and 2022.
